Dr. Gatell On Personal Spirituality

Here are some websites that have brought me closer to my total spirituality with greater peace and understanding in my life. I am a Christian, then an American, and lastly a proud Spaniard in cultural-genetic origin. But, because of this Spanish bloodline, culturally I feel I am basically a mixture of the world's three main religious cultures including Christianity, as well as Judaism and Islam by way of Morocco from Northern Africa.

These three major religious cultures mixed well in Spain with tolerance of differences for many years between 800 AD to 1100 AD, or for 300 years, under Islamic Rule. But, of course this all ended in 1492, when the Spanish Jews (Sephardic Jews) either integrated, or where finally exiled from their very own country, while the Muslims had a similar fait 400 years before.

Like the United States, Spain was basically a melting pot for many centuries as noted. However, I hope that we will always have more success here at integration over the next several hundred years, as our modern times and future calls for better or more sophisticated tolerance of our differences. For example, it is said that native Georgians in the US, have a high chance of being descendents of the the previously butchered American Indians if they are at least have had 5 of their generations in this State and descendents of previous African Slaves if they are the 10th generation here in Georgia.

I myself have some South American or some Mexican Indian as well by way of my paternal grandmother, who was dark-skinned and therefore a loner when she lived in Spain - she was treated second class like the local darker-skinned Spanish Gypsies of Egyptian descent.

But, no matter what, I am still considered a "Damn Yankee" down here in the southeastern United States, due to the remaining cultural differences between North and the South United States. But, I don't feel so bad as their is prejudism everywhere it seems, unless there is a true belief in God.

God is about being virtuous, loving, responsible, giving and avoiding all that is evil.
