Mr. Jonathan T. - Georgia - This is a a very kind, hard-working middle-aged man (like me), who was incapacitated due to his severe neuromuscular jaw pain or Temporo-mandibular Joint Disease (TMJ). I was able to make a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia and he was corrected with Guaifenesin and adequate pain management.  - Here is his very interesting testimonial submitted on 4/5/2001:

"I suffered from TMJ and related conditions on one side of my face.  The problem began in July 2000 and worsened by October 2000.

I had been to eight doctors and had gone through a multitude of medications and treatment modalities.  The last doctor that I saw diagnosed me with "Temporal tendonitis with secondary myalgia."  This diagnosis seemed correct since lidocaine/serapin injections to the tendon temporarily relieved the symptoms.

The tendonitis cleared up somewhat after several injections over a six-week period (Oct-Nov).  The doctor did a good job for the tendonitis, however, he was a dentist and could not treat the rest of my body.  I still had pain in the TMJ area and much more in my neck, back, and shoulder.  The overall condition was not improving and the pain was spreading.  I often found it excruciating to lift my arm over my head.  I was told that surgery would be my next step.  The last thing that I wanted to do was endure irreversible surgery.

Then I found Dr. Gatell.  He diagnosed me with fibromyalgia.  It seemed to be the underlying demon that was taking all normalcy from my life.  Dr. Gatell put me on a treatment plan that has gently repaired and rehabilitated my body.  Although I have more road to travel before I am back to 100%, I feel much better now and can enjoy the things that I could not before my treatment.

I am off the soft foods and have most of my mobility back.  The pain has decreased considerably.  I am indebted to Dr. Gatell for getting me through this.  I was at my wit’s end when I found him.

J. T."
