Mr. Robert N.

Mr. Robert C. - Georgia - This is a very nice middle-aged businessman who presented with severe chronic abdominal pains associated with the inflammatory autoimmune bowel condition named Crohn's Disease. I was able to diagnosed his Fibromyalgia with its Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Generalized Pain Syndrome and secondary Anxiety with Depression.

Here is Robert's story:

“ My name is Robert, I am 32 years old, and I have been suffering from Crohn’s disease and chronic pain since I was 11. I have had several surgeries to remove part of my small intestine. The doctors tried conventional medicine but surgery was the only temporary fix. I have lived with pain since I was diagnosed 21 years ago. I have been to many doctors and none of them seemed concerned with the pain and suffering that comes with this debilitating disease. They would put me in the hospital give me all kinds of tests and painkillers amongst other medications. When I felt better they would just send me home, and not ONCE did any of these doctors put me on a regimen for the pain or teach me about the medications I was given, just pump me up full of morphine and send me home. I couldn’t understand why I felt so crappy when I got home. I FELT LIKE I HAD THE FLU. This was a vicious cycle, and when I would ask for something for the pain, I was treated like some street junkie, or addict trying to get a fix. They didn’t know the difference between addiction and dependence. What happened to the oath these Doctors took. “DO NO HARM”.

Well that wasn’t the case when I came to see Dr. Gatell in July of this year (2003). Dr. Gatell was the most compassionate and caring doctor I have ever seen, and I have seen A LOT of doctors. I was actually taken back, he made me feel comfortable and he genuinely cared about me, and cared about relieving the pain and misery I was living with for so many years. He also diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia. I am on a regimen of Guaifenesin, Methadone, and Wellbutrin. He also told me about changing my diet, and some relaxation techniques.

I feel 50% better after 5 months of treatment, and I owe it all to Dr. Gatell, because he didn’t treat me like some addict when I walked in his door.

HE TREATED ME LIKE A HUMAN BEING. And that’s all I ever wanted from the other doctors.
